Charlotte, NC (February 24) – Franky “Flash” Gedeon 6-4-2 (5 KO’s) and his team believed they had the style to take the “Action” out of Joeseph Jackson.  Instead, Jackson found all of the action he needed to knock the “Flash” out of Franky Gedeon and force Gedeon to retire in his corner after two rounds.

All the hype leading up to the Jackson vs Gedeon fight was how Jackson 10-0 (8 KO’s) was going to handle the skill, experience, and style of the veteran southpaw from West Palm Beach, Florida.  Did Jackson have enough to match an experienced fighter, who forced current IBF Jr Middleweight Champ Jarret Hurd to go the distance?  Can Jackson, who had not faced a southpaw as a professional, handle a crafty southpaw?  So many questions and so many doubts existed outside of Jackson and his Team.  Jackson was confident and said, “I just needed a little time to feel him out and see how I could land the right hand.”

Jackson began the fight cautiously, and the veteran Gedeon sensed it bringing the fight to Jackson early.  Gedeon was able to Jab and land his left hand on Jackson early.  There were brief moments when it appeared Jackson was standing in the pocket too long, but Jackon was measuring Gedeon.  Gedeon landed early in the first round and Jackson tied him up, but Gedeon could not hurt Jackson.  Jackson slowly built confidence.

In round two, Jackson started putting things together and he did not hold back.  Jackson used a pawing jab to open up Gedeon then he started blasting away with his right hand.  Gedeon flashed a smile like he wasn’t hurt, but Gedeon started running and holding and the look in his eyes went from confidence to “Oh, shit” what did I get into?  Jackson began landing to the body and hard to the head.  Jackson landed a tight right hand which dropped Gedeon to the canvas.  Gedeon was back on his feet, but Jackson picked up the tempo.  As the crowd began to whip into a frenzy, Jackson began to land hard, thudding shots.  Jackson landed a big right hand and Gedeon fell back on the canvas for the second time.  Jackson sensed Gedeon’s fatigue and said, “I could tell he was really tired in the second round.  He didn’t have the energy he started with and he was having a hard time moving.  He wasted a lot of energy trying to run, so I knew the end was near.”

Jackson pounded Gedeon until the fight and flash he began the fight with was gone.  After the bell rang to end round two, Gedeon wobbled back to his corner and was helped to his stool.  As Jackson calmly relaxed in his corner taking instruction from his team, the referee waved his hands.  Gedeon was done and retired in his corner.  Exhausted and beaten down by the younger and now much more active Jackson, Gedeon decided to stay on his stool to live another day.

Jackson, the 2017 North Carolina cboxinginfo.com prospect of the year, was supported by a large “Action Jackson” T-shirt wearing contingent from his Hometown of Greensboro.  After his performance, I would not be surprised if many Charlotte fans start wearing the shirts.
