Charlotte, NC (February 24) – The best fighters in the world have one thing in common.  They dictate the pace of their fights, and that is exactly what “Dangerous” Donnie Marshall did to dominate Chauncey Fields at Centerstage NODA arena in Charlotte, NC.

Marshall 7-0 (5 KO’s) began the fight by deliberately throwing one jab and taking one step at a time to create distance and pace.  It was a technical clinic right out of the movie “Creed.”  At some point, Sylvester Stallone was yelling, “One step at a time.  One punch at a time.  One round at a time,” and Marshall followed directions.  Fields 4 – 4 (2 KO’s) quickly became frustrated and the anxious, bloodthirsty crowd wanting their gladiator to kill began yelling, “Come on Donnie.” Fields’ frustration forced him to rush in and throw wild right and left hands which flew past the underrated defense of Marshall.  Marshall would slip and go right back to one jab one step slowly closing the distance, and when he finally got close to Fields, Marshall threw wicked hooks to the body and then the head.  Marshall would regroup and start the deliberate attack all over again and Fields would rush in, flail and miss.  For hardcore boxing fans, it was a beautiful dance.

Before the second round began, the referee yelled seconds out and right before the bell Marshall’s corner yelled, “GO!”  At the bell, Marshall pumped four straight jabs into Fields’ face and Fields was quickly on the retreat.  Marshall took one step and bounced multiple jabs off Fields’ face forcing Fields to the ropes where Marshall let his hands go and began to dissect the very defensive Fields.  Marshall began to land big and Fields was trying to get out of the way if not the ring.  At one point, Fields was trapped in the corner and Marshall unloaded a four-punch combo which forced Fields to desperately lunge forward to hit Marshall.  Marshall pounded Fields back to the ropes left of the corner where Fields was previously trapped.  Fields sensing big trouble fought his way off the ropes only to have Marshall pound him back into the ropes and then the corner.  The crowd was now in a frenzy as Marshall let go of his punches and Fields became a human punching bag.  The bell rang to save Fields and as the crowd, sensing blood, went absolutely crazy waiting for round three.  The referee went over to Fields’ corner and began to frantically wave his hands.  Fields and his corner had enough.  Fields, spent from the precise, heavy-handed beating he took over two rounds, retired in his corner.

In his post-fight interview, Marshall was very gracious praising GOD and thankful for the work he was able to get in Vegas with some of the best fighters in the world J’Leon Love and Caleb Plant.  Marshall also revealed a well-kept secret, “I actually have a thumb injury.  I messed up my left thumb last week in sparring.  We don’t talk about stuff like that before the fight.  When I got in there I felt it a little bit so I wanted to take my time.  I knew I could outpoint him if I wanted to but I did not want to rush my left hand.  I like digging left hooks to the body.  I feel like I could have taken him out of there, but I didn’t want to dig in too much in case we had to go the distance.”
