All will be revealed when Canelo Alvarez 51-1-2 (34 KO’s) faces current WBO Light Heavyweight champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev for Kovalev’s WBO title Saturday, November 2, 2019, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Canelo is the reigning king of the Middleweight division and probably of even greater significance, Canelo is the current face of Boxing.
With no fear and supreme confidence, Canelo has faced and conquered all of the biggest names in the Jr. Middleweight and the middleweight division, Canelo is the toughest S.O.B. in the room and willing to get inside the ring with anyone to prove it. Which is why he is jumping two weight classes to face the most feared puncher in boxing over the last four years. “The second phase of my career is continuing just as we had planned, and that’s why we are continuing to make great fights to enter into the history books of boxing,” said Canelo Alvarez. “That’s also why I’ve decided to jump two weight classes against one of the most feared champions of recent years. Even more importantly, Kovalev is a much bigger puncher and while understated, he is a better defensive fighter than what many provide him credit. The only negatives with Kovalev are his age (36 years young) and how well he can handle body shots. Well, he answered both when he stopped one of the young and talented bulls in the Light Heavyweight division. Kovalev laid waste to previously unbeaten Anthony Yarde. Prior to that, Kovalev avenged a seventh round KO loss by out boxing Eleider Alvarez in an Unanimous Decision win in a highly anticipated rematch.
Kovalev, like Canelo, has faced every big name in his division. “In order to be the best you have to beat the best.
