Abdullah Mason thrills a sold-out Cleveland crowd with a dramatic 12th-round TKO over Albert Bell. Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington defends his world title, while Tiger Johnson dominates in his hometown return
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The city of Cleveland erupted Saturday night as hometown hero Abdullah Mason proved once again why he’s one of boxing’s fastest-rising stars.
In front of more than 10,000 passionate fans inside Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center, the undefeated WBO lightweight champion overcame adversity before delivering a breathtaking 12th-round tko over fellow Ohio native Albert Bell, successfully defending his world title in dramatic fashion.
The opening rounds showcased elite skill from both fighters. Mason attacked the body with blistering combinations, while Bell answered with sharp counters that kept the champion honest. An accidental headbutt in Round 2 opened a cut above Mason’s left eye, creating an early obstacle that threatened to derail his momentum.
Instead, it fueled him.
As the championship rounds unfolded, Mason began breaking Bell down with punishing body shots, crisp jabs, and his trademark straight left hand. By Round 9, the champion had completely shifted the momentum, forcing Bell onto the defensive.

With everything on the line entering the final round, Mason left no doubt.
Charging across the ring with championship determination, he floored Bell with a crushing combination. Although Bell beat the count, Mason refused to let the opportunity slip away. Moments later, another devastating knockdown forced referee Marc Nelson to stop the contest just 45 seconds into the 12th round, sending the Cleveland crowd into celebration.

“I feel great,” Mason said after the victory.
“We had a game plan. We wanted to work the body. Then they told me I was behind on the cards, so I stepped it up and finished the fight.”
The 22-year-old champion also praised Bell’s toughness before thanking his hometown supporters.
“He’s a great opponent. I knew it was going to be a great fight. Thank you to him for stepping in—and thank you, Cleveland.”
Shu Shu Carrington Passes Another Championship Test
WBC featherweight champion Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington continued his march toward becoming one of boxing’s elite by earning a convincing unanimous decision over Mexico’s Rene Palacios.
Carrington showcased his signature speed, slick defense, and sharp counterpunching throughout the contest. Palacios enjoyed moments of success—including a crushing body shot in the 11th round—but the Brooklyn champion responded like a seasoned veteran, regaining complete control in the closing stages.
The judges scored the bout 116-112, 117-111, and 118-110 in favor of Carrington.
“These are the fights I’ve been asking for,” Carrington said afterward.
“The body shot hurt, but that’s boxing. I have that warrior mentality.”
The undefeated champion made his intentions crystal clear.
“I want to unify. I want every champion in this division.”
Tiger Johnson Dominates in Emotional Homecoming
Cleveland’s own Tiger Johnson delivered a commanding performance in front of family, friends, and hometown fans, cruising to a unanimous decision over Christopher Guerrero.
The undefeated welterweight controlled the fight behind a disciplined jab, timely right hands, and smart counterpunching. While Guerrero found occasional success, Johnson remained in complete command over ten rounds.
The judges rewarded Johnson with scores of 100-90 and 99-91 (twice).
“It means everything to fight here,” Johnson said emotionally.
“A lot of people don’t know where I come from. I’ve had to overcome a lot of adversity.”
Then he sent a message to one of boxing’s biggest names:
“Tell Devin Haney to come see me.”
